Oh, how my heart longs for you — one of my poems

Oh, how my heart longs for you

To even lay eyes on you for a brief moment,

Would be better than to never see again.

To hear your voice say my name,

Would be better than to never hear.

To hold you, to feel your hand in mine,

Would be better than to never have touched.

To smell the sweet aroma of your breath caress my neck,

Would be better than to never have breathed at all.

To kiss you, tasting the sweetness of that first kiss,

Would be better than to never have an appetite.

To know a love like this, yet not know if we shall be together

Would be better than to not love at all.

I’m not really sure how this poem came to me. I had just finished watching the movie Jane Eyre, and those kinds of movies tend to unleash certain emotions inside of me.
