In the hilarious movie Bridesmaids, there is a pivotal scene between Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig characters which hits home with all of us when we are feeling sorry for ourselves. Go here to see the scene. The specific quote I want to bring to light with this scene is “You’re your problem and you’re also the solution.”
Isn’t that so very true when we are having a pity party for one! Basically, the answers we need are inside of us; we just have to be open and willing to listen. But our intellect gets in the way as we overthink, over analyze, and rationalize things to death. If we just listen to our heart, we gain clarity. Our intuition follows our heart, and our heart is where love, honesty, and truth reside; it is our honesty & truth and no one else’s. That IS where we find answers. Others can help us find our way and sometimes they can be a hindrance; no matter what anyone else thinks or says whether they agree or disagree with what we need to do, the bottom line is we have be willing to do the work. We find answers by doing (with action), not by allowing our struggles & difficulties to get the better of us.
Place your hand on your heart, take a deep breath, & let it out. Then listen to your heart, and pay attention even to the subtle ways it speaks to you. If you listen to your heart, it will show you the answers and it will make you a stronger & better person. Follow what your heart tells you and don’t let others negativity or lack of support deter you. This is your life not theirs. Don’t live life to impress others, live it for you! Live life to make you happy! Because we cannot and will not please everyone all of the time and in fact, we cannot please anyone any of the time. The one person that matters in your life is YOU.
With that being said, if you don’t have people in your life who want the best for you, then it’s time to reevaluate why they are in your life. We are put on this earth to motivate, encourage, inspire, and uplift others; we are here to love & respect others unconditionally no matter our differences with them. It’s unfortunate that some of us don’t or haven’t had the best influences or examples in our life. But you can change that by being the best you and always improving yourself. It goes without saying to be the best most authentic version of yourself, you need to be true to yourself so listen to your heart.
